Qatar World Cup.. What after spending $229 billion?
As the World Football Wedding approaches, Qatar is preparing for an unprecedented economic vogue, coinciding with millions of visitors booking seats in various stadiums.
FIFA has registered 23 million and 500,000 applications for tickets to the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, with the last round of lottery ticket sales concluded last Thursday.
If Qatar has succeeded in attracting the world's attention to this small country, with massive construction exceeding $229 billion, to host the FIFA World Cup, are those huge expenditures due to Qatar's economy?
The question clearly arises. What after the World Cup ends and more than 23 million visitors leave?
These concerns were highlighted by Reuters News Agency in a report from Doha's Lucille Trail, where construction workers toil before the start of the World Cup to turn the desert into a commercial street teeming with life similar to the Champs Elysees, and at a cost of $300 million, a single food and other commodities store.
