ILO representative stresses that labour reforms will leave a positive picture after the World Cup
Participants in a symposium organized on the sidelines of the International Labour Conference in Geneva commended Qatar's progress in sponsoring workers' rights and workers' rights ahead of the FIFA World Cup.
Prior to the start of the tournament, the new Minimum Wage Act had raised 280 thousand workers' wages and a law had been passed on high-temperature employment. Labour reforms also include new regulations on overtime pay, termination and conditions of employment for domestic workers, the establishment of 14 new visa centres in many countries of origin, as well as the establishment of joint committees to facilitate workers' participation in companies.
